“Yoga therapy is a self-empowering process, where the care-seeker, with the help of the Yoga therapist, implements a personalized and evolving Yoga practice, that not only addresses the illness in a multi-dimensional manner, but also aims to alleviate his/her suffering in a progressive, non-invasive and complementary manner.  Depending upon the nature of the illness, Yoga therapy can not only be preventative or curative, but also serve a means to manage the illness, or facilitate healing in the person at all levels.”

Yoga Therapy with Julie Kidd

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy Serves as a potent mind-body medicine, taking a holistic approach to health by acknowledging the emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions alongside physical well-being, no health presentation is too great nor too small. Yoga therapy sessions, centred on the client and driven by compassion, empower individuals to take charge of their own journey. The yoga therapist serves as a supportive guide, offering expertise as the client progresses on their journey to health and healing.

No prior yoga experience is needed, and contrary to the misconception about requiring flexibility, yoga therapy is beneficial for individuals with limited mobility as well as those who are active.

Yoga therapy sessions are available either in person for local participants or online through platforms like Zoom.

Initial Consultation

During your initial consultation we will discuss in depth your individual needs and health requirements, a range of holistic assessments may be used in the process, and together we will create a preliminary plan that encompasses these unique needs and goals, usually recommending a minimum of five further sessions. The plan may include asanas (yoga postures/ movement) pranayama (breathing techniques) and relaxation which may take the form of meditation, yoga nidra or other mindfulness practices. Additionally I may recommend practices that you can take home with you that will be tailored specifically for you and to help empower and develop self care.

MEET JULIE KIDD

In my 20s, I started incorporating yoga and meditation into my routine. As life's demands grew, my dedication to these practices intensified. After working in retail and photography post-school, a career shift was on my mind. In my late 40s, I embarked on yoga teacher training. Since 2019, I've been sharing yoga both in the community and one-on-one, finding immense joy in witnessing others physical and mental growth. This led me to pursue further studies, and after more than two years of focused learning, I a now able to offer yoga therapy as a Trainee Yoga Therapist whilst I continue with my case studies.

Minded Addiction Recovery Kit

This unique course, tailored for addiction, has been meticulously developed by Shaura Hall and The Minded Institute, benefiting numerous clients in their recovery.

The course takes place once a week for four weeks, where each session includes three distinct parts and lasts for two hours. Each part of the journey has been selected for its purported neurological effect. Furthermore the use of mindful enquiry is a vital component in assisting individuals to become more embodied and to refine their abilities of interoception.

I privately deliver this course in small workshop groups within the community and also within Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centres.

I have attended Julie’s yoga sessions for over 4 years now, I find the time spent (twice a week at the moment) is the most valuable time of my week. I have learned so much that has benefited me in such a big way. Julie’s practice not only covers stretching the body but also concentrated the mind to focus on positive thinking and being mindful of what we have and hold in our hearts. I do not attend any other yoga class as I feel I am gaining everything I need to be happy and content from the wonderful practices Julie teaches.
